Jeff Atkinson, Ph.D.
Vice President, Technical Operations
Dr. Jeff Atkinson joined the Omega Therapeutics leadership team as Vice President of Technical Operations and has more than 27 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. He brings deep Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls expertise across all stages of the product lifecycle. Previously, he served as the Executive Director of Process Development and Analytical Science responsible for the strategy and leadership of analytical development, drug substance, and drug product process development.
Prior to Omega, Dr. Atkinson served as the Senior Director, Manufacturing Science and Analytical Technology at Ipsen Pharmaceuticals and before that the Director of Parenteral Formulation Development at Evonik. At Ipsen, Dr. Atkinson was responsible for process and analytical lifecycle strategy and management for Onivyde® including technology transfer. Additionally, he served as a CMC lead for Onivyde® and Elafibranor. At Evonik, he provided technical and operational oversight for process and analytical development programs utilizing controlled-release delivery platforms and manufacturing science support for all parenteral manufacturing programs.
Previously, Dr. Atkinson held various leadership, management, and technical roles of increasing responsibility at Surmodics Pharmaceuticals, Brookwood Pharmaceuticals, and Southern Research Institute. Over this time, he worked on the development, scale-up, and manufacturing of various products from pre-clinical through Phase 3, utilizing polymer and lipid-based advanced drug delivery systems.
Dr. Atkinson received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
